The Astros will wear special jerseys with a gold tint for the first two home games of the season to celebrate last year’s World Series championship https://www.astrosfansgear.com/Astros_Custom_Jersey-6.The uniforms, which have gold lettering and numbers, will be worn when the Astros play the Orioles on April 2 and April 3 at Minute Maid Park.Having the defending World Series champion open the next season in special uniforms has become somewhat of a trend in the past decade or so. After winning the 2004 World Series, the Red Sox wore special jerseys during the ring presentation the next year, but didn’t wear the jerseys during game action. In 2007, the St. Louis Cardinals took it a step farther by wearing special uniforms for both the ring ceremony and the actual game. The Phillies did the same in 2009. Every team has done the same since the Giants won the 2010 World Series and opened the 2011 season with the special jerseys. The Astros’ caps also will have a gold touch as well as a World Series Champions patch on the side.Fans eventually will be able to purchase replicas of the gold jerseys at MLB.
